Art brings a personal dimension to a space, reflecting the interests, experiences and sensibility of those who inhabit it.
At AN Art Advisory & Collection Management, we work alongside architects and interior designers on the selection, acquisition and placement of art. Combining art-historical research with independent market expertise, we bring the client’s interests into conversation with the studio’s vision and the character of each space.
Our involvement may begin at the design stage, focus on an individual acquisition, or support the integration of an existing collection into a new setting.
Each collaboration begins with an understanding of the project and the people it is being created for. We explore the client’s interests, collecting experience and ambitions, alongside the studio’s architectural approach, spatial considerations, budget and timetable.
Our role complements the studio’s design expertise with dedicated knowledge of artists, artworks and the art market. Working together, we develop proposals that respond to the setting while encouraging clients to discover practices and perspectives with which they feel a personal connection.
We agree with the studio how to involve the client throughout the process, allowing time for discussion, discovery and informed decisions.
With a focus on Modern, Post-War and Contemporary art, we source works through an international network of galleries, artists, estates, auction houses and private collectors.
Each proposal presents a reasoned selection, supported by images, dimensions, indicative pricing, availability and relevant information about the artist and the work. Recommendations consider artistic significance, the client’s interests and the relationship between the work and its intended setting.
When a client wishes to proceed, we assess pricing, coordinate provenance, authenticity and condition enquiries, negotiate terms and support the acquisition process, drawing on specialist expertise where appropriate.
For projects involving an artist commission, we can also support the selection of the artist and the development of a brief in dialogue with the client and design team.
An existing collection brings its own history to a project. Moving home, renovating a residence or bringing together works acquired across generations offers an opportunity to reconsider how that collection is experienced.
We work with the client and studio to review existing holdings, explore relationships between works and develop proposals for their placement. New acquisitions may introduce further perspectives or strengthen connections within the collection.
Particular attention is given to works of personal significance, their conservation needs and the documentation required for their care and movement.
The placement of art is developed in close dialogue with the studio, considering scale, sightlines, lighting and the conditions required for each work’s preservation.
We coordinate with specialist providers on framing, transport and installation, aligning these activities with the project’s schedule and practical requirements. Where needed, we also arrange appropriate conservation advice and liaise on insurance and collection documentation.
Following completion, ongoing collection management can support the care, organisation and future development of the collection.
AN has no gallery affiliation. Our recommendations are guided by independent research and the client’s interests, with discretion throughout the relationship.
In hospitality and corporate environments, art contributes to the identity of a place and its relationship with a wider cultural context. We collaborate with architects and interior designers to develop curatorial proposals for hotels, restaurants and corporate spaces, drawing on the architecture, the history of the setting and the vision of the client. These elements inform a curatorial direction, through which artists and works are brought into meaningful relation with the project.
Working within an agreed budget, we translate this direction into proposals ranging from individual acquisitions to collections spanning several spaces and site-specific commissions. Each selection brings together art-historical knowledge, an understanding of contemporary artistic practice and careful market assessment. Particular attention is given to the relationships between works, the perspectives they introduce and how they will be encountered by guests, visitors and those who work within the space.
We welcome enquiries from architects and interior designers internationally,
